I want to get married here, if I'm a millionaire at that point in time, I'll make it happen.
But literally, there were some parts that were so pretty I wanted to cry (I stayed strong though) it may sound a bit extreme, but if you were there.. you would understand. Ugh, I couldn't stop my self from taking pictures, and by the end of the 2 day excursion, I had taken 699 pictures. Yeah, it's a problem
But the buildings, the shops, the doves, the mountains, the streets, the graffiti, everything was so damn beautiful... I asked myself repeatedly why anyone would even consider living in Rhode Island if they could live in Granada, I mean why? It's like choosing to live in a cardboard box over a mansion.
I definitely want to go back one day just to walk through the narrow streets and breathe the mountain air.. there's no place like it.
And La Alhambra, oh god. That place is Magnificent.. and HUGE. We probably walked a good 3 miles just touring the Palace, it was amazing.
We woke up bright n early to catch the bus, but before we made a pit stop at some other palace where Star wars was filmed. for you star wars fans, it might look familiar:
(I took other pictures but, I'm using my will power here)
The bus ride was 4 hours long with bunch of college student from the U.S., and man did I over here some.. interesting conversations.
This is Indian Mountain, you can probably see why...
The entrance for La Alhambra... we went inside the next day
The streets! Walking around looking for a cafe.
It may look overly crowded, but that's just cause everyone stands with their food, they only have a few chairs but it's pretty typical just to eat while standing up.
Louis treated us to Lunch, he ordered for us, and this was the most bizarre thing we got.. but I'm not gonna lie it was amazing. It was creamy rich cheese baked with some sort of marmalade, and the black stuff is caviar.. which I was adventurous enough to try... it was a bit intense, I don't recommend it.
For my brother... he gave me the yellow car for Christmas as "my first car" and told me to bring it on the trip.. so here ya go Sevi.
And oh the gift shops, how I loved the gift shops...
After I took this picture the shop keeper asked me why I took a picture if I could just buy it.. made me laugh.
I wanted to buy everything. The pretty lamps, the 3 euro scarves, the leather purses, the dangly earnings, everything was quite literally right up my alley (I'm so punny)
After our day walking around Granada, we left around 10pm for the Flamenco show.
And why drive when you could walk? So we walked some more...
And some more...
Finally we arrived. It was the coolest thing ever.
It was in a long narrow cave in the mountain totaly covered in pots and photos, and whne the guitar started strumming, the enrgy in the room ... indescribable. one at a time the dancers would take turns owning the dance floor. Authenitic flamencin music was payed, live and it sounded amazing.
Clapping to the beat, they moved with fierce passion. Flamencin dancing is choppy and fast, very different from your traditional ballet. Spinning and tapping, clapping and twisting, they moved with skill.
And Flamenco dancing isn't just for women only.
It was an amazing night... and the walk back wasn't so bad.
Our hotel room
We woke up early the next morning to go on a tour of Granada....
It looked like a magical place where dreams come true.
This is an Arabic bath from the 9th century. Wicked old. Obviously hasn't been cleaned in some 1,000 years.
The only source of light was from these sky lights in the stone ceiling. The building was made of a series of chambers of varying tempuratures, some hot, some cold. They were obviously heavily influenced by the Romans who ruled the land some hundred years before the Arabs, and then finally conquered by the Spaniards.
A random gang of feral cats. Did I mention this place felt like a magical land? Kind of like Inkheart... I half expected them to start speaking Spanish.
The designs... I want my room to look like this.
The edgy side of Spain.
Another Cathedral
I love this shot... haha it was early in the morning and the statue guy was till applying his makeup, and his dog faithfully watched him.
We ordered a cappuccino, and with the cream and sugar, I actually kinda liked it, but I don't think coffee will ever be my thing.
It tasted as good as it looks. Did I mention I love Spain?
The Spanish Colosseum, it was heavily influenced by the Romans
And that symbol in the black circle is where we got the dollar symbol ( $ )
So many tessellations, these people were into math. Good thing I wasn't around then... I would have been the one person to screw it up and start drawing swirilies.
The detail was a bit ridiculous.
Proof I was there and didn't just rip pictures off the internet.
The Mysterious Cat of La Alhambra
Laura and I.
Los Montanas on the bus ride back ... it was a wonderful trip.
